Daedalus was a wise craftsman that created the key to his son’s freedom but warned that blind ambition would lead to his downfall. Today we find ourselves in Daedalus’ shoes as unregulated technology made by corporations, such as AI, prove to be increasingly prevalent and harmful towards the working class.

The Daedalus Forum is a socialist publication that brings a diverse community together in a fight against tech facism. Our goal is to give voice to those outside the corporate sphere like artists, illustrators, educators, social workers, musicians and consumers alike. Expressing their experiences and lessons within the era of technological feudalism in a collection of written and illustrated works to find a community based solution to our most pressing issues. The communities we belong to and forge that are worth investing in.

We will not allow the world around us to become the Icarus to our Daedalus.

Full magazine will be available print only with contributions and distributions across Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. Headlines are previewable on website, however any digital distribution of magazine is prohibited

  • How to pitch a written piece for Daedalus Forum:

    Your pitch should be under 200 words and situate why you are writing this piece. The beginning includes your hook in a few sentences ideally. The following will elaborate on your ideas, analysis and approach. Lastly, the end should explain why you are the right person to write it and the angle or story you are taking without exaggerating. There are three article lengths to choose from: 500, 800 and 1200 words. We are not a news publication but please provide all the sources to any facts or information stated in written pieces. Our audience are non-specialist, non-academics, left wing working class readers from ages 18 and over looking to build movement towards social change. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me! This is the first time for the Daedalus forum so I’m learning as I go and I will be doing my best to update people as much as possible. I’m always open to suggestions and help to ensure this.
